At a press conference in Barcelona LG has shown the world its latest flagship smartphone - the LG G6. Model very important for LG, because to show that coolly received by LG G5 customers was just a work accident that will not happen again.
The LG G6 will not find either a module, a rechargeable battery, or many other solutions that would have been G5 strengths, but ultimately contributed to the failure of this little experimental smartphone. Instead, they have put on more proven solutions and functions that people actually want and need. This does not mean, however, that the G6 is a boring and reproductive phone, because LG designers would not be themselves if they did not allow themselves a bit of madness.
Let's move on to details. The first thing that comes to mind with the new LG news is its 5.7-inch screen with very unusual 18: 9 aspect ratios and an unmatched 2880 x 1440 resolution. This display is therefore narrower and longer than other 5.7-inch displays. For what? With this impressive and narrow frame, the phone is less than 72 mm wide, just like typical smartphones with a 5.2-inch screen. In other words, for a device with such a long diagonal display it is surprisingly handy. Such proportions also make the bar with the on-screen buttons bother less than usual because apps, games, and movies can easily display in their typical 16: 9 aspect ratio, and the navigation bar does not take away valuable space. And the screen of such proportions can be divided into two perfectly square parts, which will appeal to those who like to display two application windows side by side.
Significantly improved with regard to G5 has been the quality of workmanship and appearance. The LG G6 looks much nicer, more elegant, with no bizarre camera lenses, and is made from better quality materials. The side frame and buttons are metal and the back is covered with glass. The LG G6 is also the first waterproof flagship of this brand, so it's a daunting moment in the lake. Unfortunately, the waterproof and improved quality of performance was at price - unlike the last few flags of this brand, LG G6 battery can not be replaced "on the fly." The LG G6 is therefore the epitome of the end of an era, as no bigger smartphone maker is producing flag-carriers with easily replaceable batteries.
Actually, the only G6-like G5 is the dual rear camera. Just like last year's model, the new LG has one 13 MP normal camera and one ultra wide angle lens that sees a lot more and gets very interesting fisheye effect, but at the expense of image quality.
A few moments spent with us with the LG G6 is optimistic. It seems that the LG engineers have drawn conclusions from the past and together they have designed a phone that not only reads well and then reads it but then buys it and enjoys it. Is it enough for LG to return to the game? I hope yes because the Android flagship market has been a bit boring and predictable lately.
